Mom, Candace Cooke, Tells Her Story About Getting Her Daughter Treated
When our daughter Isla was born she was very content, until she was three weeks old and then she wouldn’t stop crying! I remembered that it was the same for our first born Joshua, and he continued crying for months on end! I was a little scared to go through that again so I called our midwife to see if she had any great natural cures. She suggested Cranial Sacral Therapy. Funnily enough, I knew that Lucy was coming over for dinner that night.
Lucy gave Isla her first treatment through a steady cry, finally, toward the end, she started to settle down. Before she started to settle though, Lucy said “There we go, it’s starting to shift.” As soon as she said that Isla started to relax. I was so impressed by what I saw and heard, it was really amazing.
From then on, Isla was a lot happier but as she started to get fussy I’d call up Lucy and say that I think she may need another one. (Lucy had said that she will need at least 2 to 3).
It was the same each time, giving her treatments through her tears until Lucy would say, ahhhhh, here we go….. And then Isla would return to normal.
At her last treatment, at about 8 weeks, I said that it wasn’t so much that she cried all the time, it was more that she was extremely fussy and so demanding, I had to do things exactly a certain way or she would be so mad! Like hold her on her tummy, pat her bum and walk around in circles!! I said that I thought that it was her personality and that we were in trou-ble!! Lucy assured me that it wasn’t her personality, that something was just a little off in her little body. I was a bit skeptical, but still wanted the treatment done. She gave her the treatment and at the end of it Isla was beaming like I had never seen before and her so called difficult personality has been gone since! She absolutely hated her car seat, would cry as soon as we put her in it and wouldn’t stop even when we were driving. We were a bit nervous as from Lucy’s we were off on a 3 hour journey to a friends cabin! Not a peep was heard from her except squeals of delight from the back seat the whole way there!! Thank goodness we chose to stop by Lucy’s on our way out of town!
When My Third Daughter, Keira Was Born I Had Back Labour
Her forehead was pressing on my tailbone. We had troubles getting her to take naps right from the beginning, but by two months her crying was getting worse and she still wasn’t sleeping for longer than 30 minutes at a time during the day. We knew she needed more sleep because she would wake up crying and cranky. At this time we noticed that she would quite often push her hands to her head, around her forehead and temples, as if in pain. We would massage lightly where she had her hands and we found this helped slightly. It was quite common for her to cry for a couple of hours at a time, the longest bout was three hours with her screaming and arching her back. She would cry before feeding, during and after. The doctor said she had colic. At three months, a friend suggested we go see Lucy because she had brought her infant to her. I thought that we should try anything if it would help our little girl. During our first session, Keira was crying as usual until Lucy started the therapy and saying her name. Keira looked up at her and calmed down; she stared at Lucy for the rest of the session, quiet. Lucy asked if she was bruised on her forehead when she was born because she seemed to have swelling there. She did have a bruise on most of her forehead at birth. So our baby basically had a horrible headache. Within a half hour after the therapy, she fell asleep for her first two hour nap ever. I felt that she was about 80% better after one session so we went back two weeks later for another. After the next session, Keira was sleeping normally and a much happier baby. She hasn’t held her head in the same way since and it as been four months now. I should also mention that we found out that she is lactose intolerant and after we made the proper diet changes she no longer has any feeding problems. I don’t know what we would have done if my friend hadn’t suggested osteopathic therapy for babies.
