Pelvic Floor Exercises

The pelvic floor is the group of muscles you come in contact with when you sit on a bicycle seat. They help control our bladder and bowel movements and they provide a foundation for our core.

When looking at the body from a functional perspective, it’s clear to us that the pelvic floor doesn’t work alone. So why do so many people suggest you exercise it by itself?

Our understanding is that the pelvic floor cannot work to its full capacity without all the muscles around it also working well. If the abdominals, the diaphragm, the lower back and the hip muscles aren’t working optimally, it will be impossible for the pelvic floor to be fully functional.

The Pelvicore Ball

The Pelvicore Ball is an exercise tool that is fun, easy to use and very helpful in strengthening the pelvic core.

The pelvic core is key to mobility. You may have heard of the pelvic floor, the name for the muscles that form a sling going from the base of your pubic bone in front to your tail bone in back. The pelvic core includes not only the pelvic floor, but the diaphragm, the abdominal wall and the lower back as well.

The Pelvicore Ball easily straps between the knees and allows you to perform functional exercises to help resolve any problems associated with the pelvic core. It can help relieve not only pelvic floor problems but pain in the lower and mid-back, hip pain and pain in the knees and ankles.

The movements that Ed demonstrates in the video create a chain reaction going up through the whole body. In some of the exercises he uses only the Pelvicore Ball; in others, he adds weights to enhance the reaction through the hips.
